A Website on Women Empowerment for Gender Equality and Inclusivity
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Claveria, Masbate has successfully completed its Gender-Responsive LGU (GERL) Assessment, held on December 9 and 11, 2025 at the LGU Conference Hall. The two-day activity gathered the active participation of Sangguniang Bayan Members, Department Heads, and key employees, reflecting the municipality’s collective commitment to advancing gender and development (GAD) initiatives.
The assessment revealed that LGU Claveria has reached the “Gender Neutral” stage, earning a rating of 1.54. This marks a significant step forward, as the municipality has graduated from the “Invisible” category and is now in the early stages of establishing systemic structures for gender inclusivity.
Officials highlighted that while the LGU has made progress in implementing activities and programs, the next challenge lies in strengthening policies, data systems, and visibility mechanisms to ensure sustainable and institutionalized gender-responsive governance.
The GERL Assessment served not only as an evaluation tool but also as a platform for reflection and planning. Participants emphasized the importance of integrating gender perspectives into the LGU’s vision, mission, and policies, as well as expanding efforts in communication and data collection.
With this milestone, LGU Claveria reaffirms its commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable community. The assessment results will serve as a roadmap for future reforms, guiding the municipality toward its goal of becoming “Gender Sensitive” by 2026.
