THE MPDO IMPLEMENTS THE SPECIAL PROGRAM FOR EMPLOYMENT OF STUDENTS DURING YULETIDE SEASON
Last December, the Claveria Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO), headed by Ar. Hilda Charito A. Beltran, successfully wrapped up the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) during yuletide season. Held from December 9 to 22, the initiative provided 115 students with 10-day employment opportunity designed to offer both monetary assistance and crucial skill-building.
The SPES is a national initiative mandated by Republic Act No. 7323 (later amended by RA 9547 and RA 10917). The law was established to help indigent but deserving students, out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced workers pursue their education by providing them with temporary employment and income during summer or Christmas vacations.
Putting this into action, the MPDO deployed the program's beneficiaries across the LGU's offices, where they granted hands-on experience applying theoretical knowledge in practical, real-world settings. Students tackled a range of clerical responsibilities, including document sorting, encoding, and documentation. This exposure was specifically targeted at enhancing their professionalism, social skills, organization abilities, and basic computer literacy to empower them for future career paths.
The employment program also extended beyond traditional office duties, integrating the students into the municipality's holiday spirit. The SPES beneficiaries actively participated in the LGU's yuletide initiatives by packing relief goods for distribution to needy families, assisting with gift-giving activities, and joining in a Christmas party presentation. These activities served to foster social responsibility and a strong sense of community, while giving the youth a platform to further develop their teamwork and leadership capabilities.
In the Accomplishment Report prepared by Jan Carlo E. Catampongan (Labor and Employment Officer I), it highlighted the initiative's overall success. Ultimately, the 2025 SPES: Yuletide Youth Employment Program contributed to the holistic development of Claveriano students, equipping them with valuable experiences and practical skills for their future endeavors.
